An Evening at Lush Spa Cardiff

That’s right, the day has finally come.. Today is the day that the Lush Spa Cardiff is opening and it is going to be wild!
If you aren’t too sure on what this is, then a little brief is that Lush is a skincare and cosmetics brand that love to use natural products that really aid your skin and are tailored to each individual skin type! The scents are just incredible, the longevity of the products and you will be wanting to come back for more and more each time and never become disappointed with what’s next!

Lush sell products from Bath Bombs to Bubble Bars, Bath Melts, Skincare (Cleansers, Toners, Moisturisers..), Make Up, Fragrance, Haircare (Shampoos, Conditioners and Treatments) and just so much more! But now they have expanded the company even further by adding in a full spa with so many incredible treatments, which is so exciting!!

We fortunately received an invite to visit the Lush Spa Cardiff yesterday evening as a pre-opening for today and believe me, it did not disappoint!

Firstly, we got stuck right in and were able to make our very own face masks and bath bombs as two lovely employees from the Lush Factory in Poole, England came down to show us and hold a workshop which was so much fun!

Me and Laura (laura-simone.com) got to make our own Golden Slumbers Bath Bomb which has ‘Balancing and Calming lavender oil and calming and soothing Chamomile Blue Oil’ and believe me, it smells incredible and has gold glitter in it too! Also, they actually use these bath bombs in the spa treatments too so it goes to prove how soothing these are!

Straight after creating our own products, we were able to try out so, so, so many different products around the store which left us smelling and feeling so incredible! We had the lovely Lowri showing us around the new store and giving us demos, she did such an amazing job and her memory is spot on!

I think that one of my favourite products from the night was definitely Plum Rain which is a shower gel which contains Osmanthus Absolute which is full of floral tones,Sicilian Mandarin Oil to brighten the skin and the best part, it is crammed with Fresh Plum Juice which smells so delicious! I cannot wait to use this in the shower and hope that my whole bathroom is filled with the scent for ages!

We were then shown around more of the store (it is massive compared to their other Cardiff store!), getting to see the exclusive products they have and what they use within the spa treatments.
There was so much choice of products in this new store that I genuinely could not think straight when I started purchasing stuff. I was lusting after so many products, it was crazy!

We then moved onto browsing and testing out the massage bars and seeing how they are used within the treatments that they have at the new spa. I have never personally had a spa experience and did not expect much from a simple hand and arm massage with a massage bar but boy, was I surprised! It felt so incredible and when I say incredible, I mean that I immediately purchased these products and decided to try the same out on my boyfriend when I got home! (He even said it was amazing!).

This sample of the treatment was all about putting pressure on certain parts of the arms and then instantly cooling them, to give off an Icelandic Spa feel (when people go into a sauna and then dash off into the snow straight after).

We had a good look through the Spa Treatment Brochure and I spotted two that I would absolutely adore! Firstly, I feel like I need to point out the fact that some treatments don’t even require you getting undressed to an extent. As I have never had a spa treatment, I have always been so nervous about going for one and undressing. It would be completely fine whilst I’m there, but the anxiety beforehand would freak me out! So I thought I would point out that at Lush Spa Cardiff, they actually do treatments where there’s very little undressing, some undressing or down to your underwear but beneath a cosy sheet.

The first treatment I spotted obviously involved chocolate..

‘The Comforter’
’60 Minutes of pure imagination, full of candyfloss, fantasy and bittersweet cacao kisses.’
A sweet experience to love you tender and cloud you in candy floss and the heavenly ministrations of massage. Then a bubbling rose serum, hot, rich and dripping on your skin, deliciously floral for your body to savour. You’re drunk on chocolate, fantasy and music, on the weird and wonderful chords which send you high up to Hushabye Mountain. Fireworks of thought conjure up fantastical, long-lost daydreams which scamper to greet you like childhood pets, layers of warmth and nostalgic rapture to wander in, free from responsibility.
Awake, tickled pink with velveteen skin and a reawakened sense of playfulness.

This sounds outstanding, right?!
This is essentially a hot chocolate body scrub and warm, nourishing rose body serum for 60 minutes.

The second treatment that really intrigued me was A Hard Day’s Night and I know you’re probably thinking ‘Isn’t that a Beatles song?’ Well, yes it is..

‘Hard Days Night’
‘Here’s a recipe for 75 minutes of delicious, undisturbed rest, steeped in sweet dreams and refreshment which lasts.’
Take an album of Beatles classics and sift vigorously. Add one pair of pyjamas, soft, oversized and stir the two into a reverie of massage, music and golden slumbers. Tip out, kneading away the knots of this complex dough with an unwinding massage of gentle, passive stretches which lengthen, strengthen and relax, aligning and fine-tuning from head to toe.
Add a dash of the weird and wonderful, the feeling of soaring skyward in a dream and bake with a splash of home comfort. A liberal sprinkle of Liverpool and leave to rise, starry-eyed, with the sun.

This sounds right up my street and I adore The Beatles, so this is perfect! Also you get to wear pyjamas – what could be better than that?! This treatment is 75 minutes with a 15 minute consultation beforehand.

There are so many more different treatments which are all on their website here, but these are just two that really stood out to me!

KSOutrun Bluetooth Earphones Review

Looking for some Bluetooth Earphones that are suitable for running or just casual use?
I received these Bluetooth Earphones for christmas by KSOutrun and they are really good!
They are super handy with my Apple Watch and are hardly noticeable when you are wearing them.

They are simply, this lead. That is all that’s to them which is so great – put them in, around your neck, turn them on and pair and off you go! Simple!

I believe that these Bluetooth Earphones have been featured on the Gadget Show too and had some high reviews on them – they are easy to use, very lightweight and come with multiple ear pieces to customise them to your own likings!

You simply charge them with the small USB cable provided and that is it. Easy peasy.
The sound quality is great on these, I have had no problems although at first I thought that they weren’t going to agree with my ears and constantly fall out but since I changed the ear pieces around for a while, I found the perfect match for me and now they are on point!

Amazon Fire Stick Review

I have recently purchased an Amazon Fire Stick so that I can have everything all in one place such as Amazon Video, Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Music, Photos and so on, so on..

I am very impressed with how simple it is and how easy it is to setup – Amazon automatically link your account to the Fire Stick (you can ask them not to if it’s a gift) and it comes on instantly! Not forgetting that it’s just a USB stick that you simply plug into the power source and your tv and BOOM on it goes! Very simple.

fire-stick

At a bargain of £34.99, I would highly recommend the Amazon Fire Stick as it’s just simple, has all the content you need and you can even download third party apps onto it. Handy!

I feel that this product is definitely for all age ranges and is suitable for families too. It is jam packed with films and tv programmes, you can listen to your music on there, view your photos from the Amazon Cloud and you can even play games on here too (& purchase a gaming controller too, if needed).

It is very easy to navigate, personalise and find the correct films and shows that you want. If you can’t be bothered with the simply remote (which has a similar layout to the Apple TV Remote) then you can download the Amazon Fire App that lets you use your phone as a remote as a mouse, voice recognition and to type!

You can find the Amazon Fire Stick from this link HERE
Have you tried one of these? Or have something similar?

Apple Watch Review

For christmas, I jumped on the technology trending bandwagon and I received an Apple Watch. I have been eyeing one up for quite some time now, although when they first came out I thought that it was going to be something that I wouldn’t use really.
I have a Stainless Steel Apple Watch which came with a white strap, that I have now changed to a dusty lilac colour for the time being! I like to mix things up every now and then!

So I charged it up on christmas day, plopped it on and it hasn’t really come off since (obviously for charging and sleeping – duh!) but it has become really handy! The ease of checking my messages and emails quickly and not having to go get my phone. Or even when I’m in work and I’ll get a message from my mother to pick something up on the way home (as I don’t usually check my phone until I get home and miss the texts!) it’s just much easier to quickly browse at this and be kept up to date!

The software is fast, no glitches for me yet, no problems at all. I even have some KitSound Outrun bluetooth, wireless earphones to go with my Apple Watch and these work perfectly and connect quickly! Great add on!

Although I think that this is a really handy gadget, the only downsides are that there’s no actual apps for WhatsApp, Snapchat and Spotify. This is fine, but I have had to turn off my notifications for Snapchat as I won’t be able to see the images on my watch anyway!
Although I thought this was a downside, I think that I am just going to switch from Spotify to Apple Music for the time being (Sorry, my beloved Spotify). It’s just easier to keep everything in sync and for everything to work perfectly fine!

It is very handy for if I’m driving, I can just tap the answer button and I don’t have to do anything else – especially when it connects to my bluetooth system automatically in the car too! Speak away or throw those tunes on and get singing!

IMG_6299

I just really like the feel of having all of my calendars up to date, so I can just check up on anything with a blink of an eye and it’s as simple as that! No need to faff about on my phone, trying to find my calendar! Also, the fact that you can switch around all of the straps, hits a soft spot with me. I love that it is customisable as I like to change things around and keep them fresh every now and then – so this is such a great hit with me!

So far, I haven’t got any games on it and am not sure on how I feel about that, but I’m pretty sure that I’ll update you on all that next time!

I do understand that the Apple Watch might not be for everyone but for people like me, who are in the Design/Tech Industry this becomes very handy to keep everything in sync – I would highly recommend it!

Have any of you got an Apple Watch? Do you like it? Love it? Hate it?
I want to know your opinions!

Lego Jurassic World Game Review (Xbox One)

As I work at a Video Game Retailer, I thought ‘Why don’t I post reviews about some Video Games that I have played?’ – so here goes nothing!

I bought my Xbox One in October when I came back from travelling and a must have game for me had to be Lego Jurassic World. I absolutely love the Lego Games as they are playable for all ages, have a wide target audience for their humour and they are just overall, great games!

So, I have previously owned Lego Indiana Jones, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Hobbit, Lord Of The Rings and Marvel Super Heroes – and I still think that Lego Jurassic World is still up there with some of the best Lego Games made!

Yes, it is great for children anyway but it is also great for the older audience that grew up with the Jurassic Park movies as this game features the original trilogy and the latest Jurassic World. You can play every single film and it is a decent length game too!
You can build the vehicles and dinosaurs from every single film, and also use these within the game – to completely races, levels, you name it..

They have a lot of humour and puns in here for the parents, the older fans, the children and even the grandparents. It is a lighthearted game, that although it has dinosaurs that usually eat people and animals, in the Lego Games they do not show any of this and they always add a cheeky spin onto it (as my mother pointed out whilst I was playing it).

I would highly recommend this game to everyone, and I feel that it is one of the best selling games at our store since October! Look out for Lego The Avengers coming out at the end of January – it looks like it is going to be great too!

Have any of you played this game?
What is your favourite Lego Video Game? I would LOVE to know about this!

MAC So Chaud Lipstick Review

It was my birthday on Saturday and I decided to treat myself to a new MAC Lipstick. I went for So Chaud, as I have reds, oranges but not both combined. I always go for Rebel and Plumful on a daily basis, so I need to find my next favourite bright pop of colour!
I am loving So Chaud so far! I put it on today, it’s not too orangey, not too red either. It is a great, fun colour and especially for my skin tone, even if I’m not feeling like myself, I can whack this on and my mood is instantly lifted!

It is a matte finish, it feels slightly matte but a little bit of lip balm will sort it out a treat! I feel like it is definitely not as drying as Diva or Viva Glam V!

You do have to reapply after eating, so I am probably going to look into a lip liner either the same colour as this or a slight off colour that I can use with several and give a ombre effect!

Overall, a great colour, great addition to my ‘collection’ and a wise choice all in all!
What is your favourite MAC Lipstick of all time? Mine is definitely Rebel!

The Good Dinosaur

Okay, I have finally seen The Good Dinosaur and it did not disappoint!
I had no idea what it was going to be about, apart from the fact that there is a dinosaur and a cave boy..

This was such an adorable movie, with a lot of strong family meanings – everything was about loss, regaining relationships, coming together to make things work.

Although, I was surprised at how many disasters and set backs there were in this film! I thought that this was going to be a ‘Dinosaur meets Cave Boy, become friends and only one tragedy’ a whole rounded Disney/Pixar film filled with happiness! I was wrong.

But don’t get me wrong, this film is still so great and has so much more meaning to it and the relationships within it. It has a really strong storyline and features some hilarious and down right cute characters!

good-dinosaur-concept-art-sc-pub16-2014-11-12

The visuals are beautiful as always, although they are different than usual! In The Good Dinosaur, I noticed that they have been placing real life images into the backgrounds and then working with animation over the top of these. Yes, it saves a lot of time from producing such huge  visuals (every single branch, leaf, ripple of water, grain on the ground..) but personally I still do prefer everything to be solely animated? Call me old fashioned, but I just have a love and passion for animation and illustration. My main thing about animation films for me is the art, concept, inspiration and the amount of detail put into the animations – more than the storylines themselves.

Overall, I really did enjoy this film and I think that it is a great watch – I felt like it shares little emotions and such from other Disney and Pixar classics which all tied together. I did not love this so much that I wanted to rewatch it again immediately, but give me a little time and I can see this growing on me more and more now that I know what’s in store for me! I think I was slightly in shock when I watched this as it was not like anything I initially expected!

I would definitely recommend giving The Good Dinosaur a watch!
Now I just cannot wait for Finding Dory and Coco to come out next!
Have you seen this film yet? Did you enjoy it or feel the same as me, not as expected but still great? Let me know!
