March Favourites

So, somehow another month has passed by which means it’s time for another monthly favourites!
I was so busy in February that I completely forgot to do a favourites and when I did, it was already March.. so here’s a March Favourites instead!
I am going to save the blabbing this time and just get stuck right into it.

So let’s dive in..
My first favourite of the month of March certainly has to be Netflix. I have finally re-entered the fabulous world of Netflix and wowie, there are so many incredible shows for me to catch up on! There is nothing better than jumping into bed early to catch up on Netflix and munching on way too many Minstrels! I have written a post on What I’m Looking Forward to on Netflix 2017 (This might feature 13 Reasons Why – which is another monthly favourite for me! Hype hype!) for you all to check out, if you need some inspiration!

I was so fortunate to attend a Netflix Event in Cardiff last month, where there was a Netflix-filled apartment and we got shown all of the latest releases coming for 2017. Here is a link to that post, incase you want to give it a read: My Time at the Netflix Apartment.

My first favourite of March has to be the Nyx Brow Gel in the shade ‘Chocolate’ (seen in the photo above). Seriously, it is pretty tough to rub these bad boys off whilst I have this brow gel on my eyebrows! I was looking for a product that doesn’t wipe away easily like pencil or sometimes powder (I also have psoriasis, so I tend to scratch pretty often) and this product works a treat.
I apply this brow gel with an angled eyebrow brush from Real Techniques, I try not to apply too much as they can go a little too bold and dark for my face but if I apply carefully, they go with my hair colour pretty well.

You can purchase this from select Boots stores, so here is a link to the website for you to browse. I will most probably do an eyebrow tutorial on my blog using this product for you all soon! Let me know what you think about that.

My second favourite of the month has to be ‘Dear Amy’ by Helen Callaghan which I am currently reading. I haven’t finished it yet, but the storyline is so good and I got completely hooked on just the blurb which is just here:

“Would you risk your life to save a stranger?
Discover what happens next in the Sunday Times bestselling psychological thriller, Dear Amy . . .

IMG_4489

A local schoolgirl has been missing for weeks when Margot Lewis, agony aunt of the ‘Dear Amy’ advice column, receives a letter:

Dear Amy,

I’ve been kidnapped by a strange man.
I don’t know where I am.

Please help me,
Bethan Avery

This must be a hoax. Because Bethan Avery is another young girl, who went missing twenty years ago.

As more letters arrive, Margot becomes consumed by finding the sender and – unlike the police – convinced that the girls’ disappearances are connected.

Solving this puzzle could save someone’s life – but could it also cost Margot her own?”

You can purchase this book from Amazon now!

My third favourite is Bath and Body Works ‘Twisted Peppermint’ foaming hand wash which is a Christmas Fragrance. I absolutely adore Bath and Body Works and I am so, so, so sad that there isn’t one in the UK (although, if there was, it would probably be expensive..) so when I go to America I go a little crazy on the hand soaps and antibacterials! I cannot get enough of them!

I was super excited as I have heard about the Christmas Fragrances that come out obviously over the Christmas period, but I have never been in America late enough for them to be released, so this Christmas I found them and I was super excited!
Unfortunately, I really wanted the Body Mist of this as it was really gorgeous but it was sold out completely in the store I went to and could not get my hands on it! Damn!

Anyway, this foaming hand wash is incredible. It has such a strong and lost lasting scent that stays on your hands afterwards and the bottle lasts ages too! (I went a little crazy using this, although I knew I’d regret it when it’s all gone..)
I would highly recommend these products and if you haven’t heard of Bath and Body Works then definitely give them a browse – there’s no doubt that you won’t find something that you will fall in love with!

IMG_0486

I have also been loving The Library of Fragrance‘s scent in ‘Honeysuckle’. I purchased this from Boots for £10 (usually £15) with my Advantage Card points to treat myself and my, my, my.. this genuinely smells like actual flowers! Although, my boyfriend just comments ‘You smell like a bee’ (whatever a bee smells like.. but y’ano).
This company have so many different fragrances from Cinnamon, Marshmallow, Mint Ice Cream, Fresh Laundry and even Play-Doh.. that’s right, Play-Doh.. yummy?..

You can even mix and match scents, and they have a page that tells you which scents compliment each other whether you want to go warm, musky, bright and refreshing..

I’ll leave a link to their website here and also check out the Boots website as either one of the sites usually have an offer on!

__________

So, that is all I have for my March Favourites at the moment. I hope you enjoyed and I would love to know what you have been loving this month too! Let me know down below!

My January Favourites

That’s right, it’s a new year and January has flown by so fast already!
January has been a really strange month full of ups and downs, as it usually brings for most people but here’s a few new things that I have been loving throughout the month of January:

My first favourite is Glamour magazine – I feel like I have not read an actual physical magazine, let alone a fashion magazine in a very long time. So I had a huge urge to pick one up when I visited Tesco along with a few others!
I really love getting inspiration from magazines and in all honesty, I tend to prefer a magazine such as Glamour because if I start swooning at the items, 75% of the time they are actually a reasonable price! There’s nothing worse than falling in love with something and then seeing that it costs £675!!!

Recently, I feel like I really need to just step back and take some time out for myself as if I’m not working, doing my university work or blogging, then I’m reading and trying to beat my goals, setting myself to-do lists even if it’s the most simplest of chores around the flat and I am starting to learn to just sit back and have some time to relax and do whatever I want (even if that’s playing The Sims 4)..

share_default

Talking about The Sims 4.. My boyfriend is a very kind man to me and secretly purchased The Sims 4 for me when I was having a stressful time with university work and overloading myself. I have previously had the original Sims and The Sims 3 – I considered purchasing the fourth game for quite a while but I heard negative things about it such as you cannot build pools any more, so I put that idea off for a while.
It turns out that The Sims 4 has had so many updates to the game that it’s really, really great – a few updates and differences are that you can go on dates with other Sims outside of your home, you can now build pools, upper floors, basements and even have toddlers within the game (so they grow from baby, toddler to teenager, instead of just a baby and a toddler).
I will probably write a proper review for The Sims 4 as I feel like I have a lot to say about it and I might even start a mini series on my progress within the game!

Another favourite for January is Walt Disney’s Pinocchio – this absolute classic is one of my favourite Disney animated films and what makes it even better is that I got to write my latest essay on a scene from Pinocchio. What can be better than researching one of your favourite films on repeat?
There is just so much that I absolutely adore from this film, from the pure genius of the animation, how far they progressed in the animation industry and what hurdles they climbed, the moral of the story, the music, the intricacy of detail in Gipetto’s workshop and of course, my favourite scene:

‘Star light, Star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.’

As you might be able to tell already, I am an animation student but I won’t go into any more of that 🙂

You’ve finally made it to my final favourite of January – Paco Robanne’s Lady Million.
As some people say ‘Every woman has this perfume now, as it’s always on offer in Boots for christmas each year’ but that doesn’t bother me at all – this smells absolutely gorgeous and is actually my second bottle and hey it’s usually on offer which means cheaper for me! Who would ever complain about discount?!

I find this perfume very feminine, not too sweet as I feel that it has some darker, spicier undertones whilst still keeping that versatile scent which is perfect for every occasion. Unfortunately, I am terrible at describing scents especially over the internet so forgive me on that one! I would highly recommend giving the testers a whirl in-store to see if it is your sort of scent to go for!
The packaging is really appealing, a lovely diamond shape which still stands up very sturdily too.dsc05937

So that’s it for another month of favourites, feel free to check out my previous monthly favourites and other products that I loved. I will link them below:

My Favourites of 2013!

Here are a few of my favourite things from 2013! These aren’t all particularly from 2013, but they are what I enjoyed throughout the year.

Books
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
Image

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Image

I have wrote short reviews on these books, within the Books section of my blog! So I will spare writing more opinions and direct you there instead! Also, these books are both having films created!

Films

Monsters University

The film that everyone was waiting for! Although it wasn’t as good as the original Monsters Inc, I still really enjoyed this film and will watch it over and over! I really enjoyed it as a film in itself too, (just like what I thought about Cars 2). I’m definitely getting a copy of this for my collection!

Image

Wreck It Ralph
Excellent! I saw this film and immediately fell in love with it! Although the film is so good by itself, I fell in love with it even more, as it had retro game references throughout it, and featured characters from my childhood!

Image

Saving Mr Banks
I saw this film last week and I adored it! I have a pretty big love for Disney, but whilst watching this film, I had to hold back tears at several occasions! I really enjoyed how it was factual and you get to learn a lot of detail about the Mary Poppins film! Every Disney fan must see this film!
Image

Gravity
I didn’t really know what to expect from this film, but when I went to the cinema to see it, I got incredibly excited as I am obsessed with anything to do with space. I thought ‘How could they do so much, that’ll keep people interested whilst it’s only set in one main ‘scene’?’ but I was captivated all the way through this! Such a good watch! I have done a small review (more of an opinion) in the Films section of my blog.
Image

Star Trek: Into Darkness
Amazing! The effects were incredible! I’m not going to say much about this, as you should see the first film beforehand! But as a Star Trek fan, I was impressed with this! Benedict Cumberbatch’s role was also really good.
Image

The Heat
Hysterical! I’m not usually one to laugh out loud at a film, but the mix of the comedy in this, and the funny family that couldn’t stop screaming with laughter behind us in the cinema, made it even more funny! There’s not much to say about this, other than you should give it a go!

TV Series

How I Met Your Mother

I have never been able to really get into this series when it’s on television, but this is a series that you have to watch from the first episode (or at least the introduction of the first episode) – I love this! It’s so funny, it’s quite ‘Friends’-esq aswell. Not to mention, there’s 8 series of this on US Netflix!
Image

Sherlock
I heard everyone talking about this series, so I eventually thought that I would give it a go! Especially as it was on Netflix and I don’t tend to watch live tv! I actually really enjoyed these, I have 2 episodes left and I have heard that there’s more to come in 2014!
Image

The Carrie Diaries
For all of the Sex & The City fans, and even people that have never seen S&TC before – this is a great series to watch! It has had a lot of criticism when it comes to comparing it to S&TC and if it’s accurate, but I just really enjoy the series as it is!

My Favourite Things about the Holidays!

Favourite thing about the holidays:

I love the Christmas Holidays! One of my favourite things has to be moving back home from university, to see the family and family friends. Also, I don’t say no to the cooking and company!

Favourite holiday tradition(s):

Our one ‘tradition’ that I like doing, is visiting family & friends on christmas eve to deliver their presents! I really enjoy this because some years, we don’t get to see certain people until Christmas Eve – so it’s great to finally catch up with everyone!

Favourite holiday decor:

I basically love every bit of christmas decorations! Tinsel, lights, ceiling hangers, just everything!

Although, I love all of them – I don’t think it would be christmas without candles and our coal fire being lit!

Favourite holiday food:

There’s nothing better than Christmas Dinner, mainly as I don’t eat too many ‘Sunday Roasts’ throughout the year – so that makes me ridiculously excited for Christmas Dinner! They ALWAYS has to be trifle, as that’s my favourite desert!
But, on the christmas theme, I love it when my mother makes gingerbread biscuits and mince pies (although, I have jam instead – as I don’t like mince pies!)

Favourite holiday movie(s):

I have two completely different films, which I’d say have a genre for themselves. The first one would be Jingle All The Way – I loved that film when I was younger and I watch it over and over, all year round! The second one is a definite classic – Meet Me In St Louis, it’s a film that makes me feel so homely. It reminds me of family, especially my grandfather who I miss a lot. It’s such a beautiful classic family film, with really catchy songs! If you haven’t seen it, then you must!

Favourite holiday song(s):

This is a hard one! I have so many favourite christmas songs – classic ones and the more modern. One of the newest songs would be Coldplay – Christmas Lights, it’s so beautiful and makes me well up every time! Then, for the mainstream christmas songs, I would say either Elton John’s ‘Step Into Christmas’ or Shakin Stevens’ ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’! And lastly, for the classics, there’s a few artists more than songs, I will be listening to Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Doris Day on repeat!

What are your favorite holiday favorites?

September 2013 Favourites!

Image

Here is a short September Favourites for you – I felt that there wasn’t too many favourites that I was using, to feature!

My first favourite has to be Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze. I feel that these are really pigmented, last all day (even on oily lids) and can act as a base for powder-based eye shadows! I will be writing a blog post on the Colour Tattoo’s soon!

Image

I have been a very early Autumnal person, this year! I have cracked out the candles, burgundy nail polishes, tartan scarf (although, I wear it all year round) and the berry make up shades. I have certainly been loving Spiced Orange from Yankee Candle – especially when I was able to get this in a 25% discount at Clintons! This is such a gorgeous scent that even fills the room within five minutes! It’s a very christmassy/autumnal, warm scent which makes me feel super cosy in the darker nights!

Image

I visited Florida this summer and whilst I was there, I bought a stupid amount of items in Victoria’s Secret. I had this Mango Temptation Body Butter in a 5 for $30 deal – so I had 2 body butters and 3 body mists (I shared some as gifts, for my brother’s girlfriend). I love this body butter though – it can also be used as a hand cream, which isn’t greasy at all! Although, I feel that you have to use quite a lot of product whilst using it on your body, as it doesn’t spread as easily as most body butters! But still – the scent is gorgeous and it isn’t sticky, in the slightest!

Image

These are another product that I purchased this summer, in Florida. I had seen these EOS Lipbalm’s in Boots a few times, for a steep £8 each. I knew that I was going to Florida, so I decided to do my research on how much I can get certain products for, in the US. I found these in Walmart for $2/3 each!! I am addicted to these lipbalms, I wish they sold them more accessibly in the UK and for a smaller price! If I remain correct, I have seen these on Amazon recently – I will post a link when I have found these.

Image

A massive favourite of all time is my Bobble Jug. I use this every single day, and it saves me from buying bottles of water, day in day out! This is basically a very good looking and rather cute, water filter. You simply pour the water in through the filter at the top (take the lid off, obviously), and you’re good to go! No nasties in ma water, thanks! These water filters are really inexpensive – I think I purchased mine for just under £20 from John Lewis, they also come in loads of different colours AND they do adorable drinks bottles with a filter in them too for £8 each – so check them out!

That’s all I have for my September Favourites for now!
