A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowen

I completely fell in love with this book! I had heard my auntie talking about this book and giving us a briefing on the storyline. I had to run out and purchase it.

It’s a very heartwarming book about a street cat, which practically adopted his owner. They have both gone through hard times, but have helped each other overcome their troubles; such as drugs, injuries, fears.

This book tells you the main storyline about how they met and how they go about their everyday lives, but it also includes short stories.

Luckily, there is now a new book out following this one – and they are planning on making a movie about their touching story.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone of any age.

VLOGMAS: Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day!

Here’s my VLOGMAS of my Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day! Includes a kitten that flings herself in the air, onesies and food!

My After-Christmas Purchases!

Technically, this first one wasn’t after christmas – as I chose these for my christmas present but I still had to show you them!
I visited a designer outlet near home which had a store called Sunglass Hut. They carry loads of different brands from Tiffany & Co, Prada, Oakley and Ray Ban. They had a really good offer on any pairs of sunglasses that were under £119.00. If you picked a pair under that amount, you were able to get two pairs of sunglasses for £90 instead! BARGAIN!
What made it even better was that I found this pair of Ray Ban’s too, which I love! So we purchased these for me, and my brother had the second pair 🙂

I then went back to that designer outlet on Boxing Day with my brother and his girlfriend, to pick up our Ray Ban cases (as they didn’t have any left at the time) and to visit the new Yankee Candle store (we made purchases for my mother in there) – they still didn’t. but they had another sale on. The sunglasses on sale this time are brand new, but they had minor faults to them such as a arm was loose (you can tighten them yourself) or had misprints. Most of these were unnoticeable and we couldn’t see faults. I found a classic pair of Wayfarer’s in the sale, reduced from £143.00, to £42.90 – I couldn’t resist it, I’d never find another pair of Wayfarer’s for that price!

I also went into town to see if there was anything interesting in the sales, although I didn’t need anything. I got bought underwear from the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley collection for Marks & Spencer, for christmas. I thought I’d have a quick browse to see if they could possibly be reduced, although I doubted it. But as I was on the escalator, I could see a ‘50% off’ sign above them! So yet again, I couldn’t resist! It turned out to be £12.50-£16.00 for a bra, which was amazing! So I had to stock up on most of the colours that fitted me!

Image

I also went into Zara, just for a browse. I have never bought anything from there, but I always go into have a look! I found this denim jacket – I have wanted a new one for quite a while now, as my other one is cropped, but this was perfect and reduced from £39.99 to £24.99! I’ll be wearing this with dresses, thick tights and boots!

Image

The last two items that I have purchased weren’t in the sale, but I really wanted them. I ventured to Topshop (that’s right, me, in Topshop.. something that I never do) and I spotted their Moto High Waisted Denim Shorts which I have been looking for a decent pair (that keep your ass cheeks in) for ages! The price wasn’t scary either, compared to ASOS’ £40 Levi shorts. These were only £28 and they’re perfect!
As I was walking to the till, half in a day dream – I walked past a stand and immediately walked back to it (people must’ve thought I was mental) then I found this white and navy, striped, cropped tshirt! I wasn’t too fond on the fact that it was cropped, but I thought that I could pair it with the high waisted shorts – and I’m a sucker for nautical stripes!

So that’s all I have bought so far, from the ‘sales’ – now my card is feeling a slight burn, but it’s my birthday on the 2nd of January, so I will be visiting London for the day (or two, possibly).

The Da Vinci Code (Robert Langdon #2) by Dan Brown

Brilliant!

I became really caught up in this book when I first started reading it – although I started to dawdle through the book towards the middle, most events started happening which drew me in again.

This is one of those books that takes that while longer to read, due to the language and facts within. I did want to hurry up and finish the book, but after reading it and it all sank it, I found that I really enjoyed it!

I have now finished Angels And Demons (I know, not the correct order, but it doesn’t really matter) and I cannot wait to carry on reading the Robert Langdon series!

What I got for Christmas 2013

I had an amazing family christmas, with visits from my brother and his girlfriend too. There was lots of food, games and rubbish tv – but we had a really good few days.
I am going to Tokyo in February, so I have had some money put towards my trip for christmas and my birthday, so that was my main present!

I have received a variety of gifts, from books, perfume and games!

The first present I received was a trusty bottle of Bio-Oil. Me and my mother go through these bottles as if it’s water, so it’s always really good to stock up (as it’s on offer at the moment aswell!). I use these on stretch marks (I have a big butt, then I run so it disappears, then returns eventually – so I have the little white tiger stripe marks) and I also use this on my psoriasis and eczema on my face! You can also use this to balance uneven skin tone aswell.

Image

These are the two pairs of Ray Ban’s that I spoke about in another post – I chose the gold-chrome colour as they were on offer on christmas eve at an outlet. Then I went back to the store on Boxing Day to see if they had any Ray Ban cases delivered, and I saw the classic Wayfarer’s on sale too. These were ridiculously cheap as they were all brand new, but had minor manufacture faults to them. Most glasses had wonky legs, but these were perfect and the only fault with these is the Ray Ban sticker on the lens. They’ve gone to reprint Ray Ban, next to it. But for £42.90 instead of £143.00, I’m not complaining!

Image

I am obsessed with The Smiths and Morrissey, so when I saw that the Morrissey autobiography was only £3 in Tesco, I had to get it! My mother bought it as an early christmas present for me, and I’ve already started reading it! I then received a Tokyo Guide Book which is full of really useful information for when I go in February. Lastly, I received this adorable Marvel notebook – I am a big comic book fan and I’m always filling up notebooks, so this was perfect and came at the right time! I might use this for my blog and YouTube organisation!

Image

I had a pair of Skullcandy headphones YEARS ago and they always come in handy! Especially when I travel, or go on a plane! These ones are the same as my others (which my parents didn’t realise) but they’re a navy colour, instead of my previous red and white. I’m glad to have another pair and that they fold up really small! The only thing with the low riders is that people can hear your music, if you have it on a specific volume! But I don’t mind, unless I’m listening to something cringeworthy! I love these, and at least I can have a pair at home, and a pair in Cardiff.

Image

I didn’t receive this FOR christmas, but I won it on a Twitter Competition and it arrived on Christmas Eve, so I thought that I would include it! Inside this adorable Liz Earle star packaging, is a strengthening nail polish in a gorgeous, neutral brown colour.

Image

Next, I received a little bundle of travel toiletries for my trip in February. I love travel sized items, especially the Aussie ones! It’ll make my suitcase a lot lighter, instead of lugging around huge bottles of shampoo!

Image

I then unwrapped a gigantic box, that I had no idea what it was going to be. To my surprise, it was the No7 light up vanity mirror! I have a smaller Revlon light up vanity mirror from when I was younger, although the lead for the light disappeared. I’m so glad that I have this one now, as yet again, I can keep my smaller one at home and take this one back to Cardiff with me!
I love receiving things like toiletry bags, so I was chuffed when I saw that I had the Toni & Guy ‘Matthew Williamson’ set! I adore the patterns that Matthew Williamson uses on his designs, and this bag is gorgeous! Although, is it just me that ALWAYS has a problem with Toni & Guy packaging?! I opened my bag, picked up the Heat Defence Spray and it was completely empty! It had leaked through my bag as the seal was broken, so I had to take the bag back (sold out) and get the spray replaced. It also came with a Shampoo, Conditioner and Sea Salt Spray that I love (although, the spray was broken on my old one too). I love getting different shampoos and conditioners though, so I cannot wait to use these!

Image

Yet again, this wasn’t received ON christmas day, but my dad went to the sales on Boxing Day (without us knowing). He came back from Boots with 3 different perfume/aftershave sets and gave one each to me, my brother and his girlfriend. This was because they were half price and my birthday is in January and theirs are in February! So they were early birthday presents – WHICH SMELL AMAZING! Not to mention, this Chloe perfume set was suppose to be a whopping £50, so reduced to £25 was an amazing price!

Image

I was chuffed to receive more perfume, although I have loads – but you can never have enough really! Paco Robanne’s Lady Million smells gorgeous and I know that A LOT of people had this for christmas as it was on offer for a really good price over the christmas holidays! My auntie then bought me a perfume from Avon that smells fresh and floral, called Secret Fantasies? (I think). This is a really good every day perfume, that I can just wear throughout the daytime. I then had my presents from my brother, he bought me the Lego Iron Man set which I love, Lego Miniatures (which are in a sealed bag and you don’t know which character you’re going to get) and the amazing Lego Superheroes xbox game, that I had my eye on! You know what I’m going to be doing for the next few days!

I hope you all had an amazing christmas and have a happy new year! I am currently uploading Vlogmas Week Two to my YouTube Channel and there will be one more after that – before my birthday! So keep your eyes peeled!

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

IMG_6745
So, I decided to pick up this book as everyone has been raving about it in general, and on youtube.
It was a very easy and enjoyable read, with simple language but I felt that it is definitely overrated.

I did enjoy it, but clearly not as much as everybody else did!
Maybe it’s a ‘you either love it, or hate it’ situation?

There’s not much that I can say about this book, without giving away the storyline – so I will leave it here!
I’m most probably going to re-read this book, you never know, it could change my opinion?

Did anybody else feel the same about this book? A little overhyped?

My Favourites of 2013!

Here are a few of my favourite things from 2013! These aren’t all particularly from 2013, but they are what I enjoyed throughout the year.

Books
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

I have wrote short reviews on these books, within the Books section of my blog! So I will spare writing more opinions and direct you there instead! Also, these books are both having films created!

Films

Monsters University

The film that everyone was waiting for! Although it wasn’t as good as the original Monsters Inc, I still really enjoyed this film and will watch it over and over! I really enjoyed it as a film in itself too, (just like what I thought about Cars 2). I’m definitely getting a copy of this for my collection!

Image

Wreck It Ralph
Excellent! I saw this film and immediately fell in love with it! Although the film is so good by itself, I fell in love with it even more, as it had retro game references throughout it, and featured characters from my childhood!

Image

Saving Mr Banks
I saw this film last week and I adored it! I have a pretty big love for Disney, but whilst watching this film, I had to hold back tears at several occasions! I really enjoyed how it was factual and you get to learn a lot of detail about the Mary Poppins film! Every Disney fan must see this film!
Image

Gravity
I didn’t really know what to expect from this film, but when I went to the cinema to see it, I got incredibly excited as I am obsessed with anything to do with space. I thought ‘How could they do so much, that’ll keep people interested whilst it’s only set in one main ‘scene’?’ but I was captivated all the way through this! Such a good watch! I have done a small review (more of an opinion) in the Films section of my blog.
Image

Star Trek: Into Darkness
Amazing! The effects were incredible! I’m not going to say much about this, as you should see the first film beforehand! But as a Star Trek fan, I was impressed with this! Benedict Cumberbatch’s role was also really good.
Image

The Heat
Hysterical! I’m not usually one to laugh out loud at a film, but the mix of the comedy in this, and the funny family that couldn’t stop screaming with laughter behind us in the cinema, made it even more funny! There’s not much to say about this, other than you should give it a go!

TV Series

How I Met Your Mother

I have never been able to really get into this series when it’s on television, but this is a series that you have to watch from the first episode (or at least the introduction of the first episode) – I love this! It’s so funny, it’s quite ‘Friends’-esq aswell. Not to mention, there’s 8 series of this on US Netflix!
Image

Sherlock
I heard everyone talking about this series, so I eventually thought that I would give it a go! Especially as it was on Netflix and I don’t tend to watch live tv! I actually really enjoyed these, I have 2 episodes left and I have heard that there’s more to come in 2014!
Image

The Carrie Diaries
For all of the Sex & The City fans, and even people that have never seen S&TC before – this is a great series to watch! It has had a lot of criticism when it comes to comparing it to S&TC and if it’s accurate, but I just really enjoy the series as it is!
