My forgotten, but pleasant post treasures!

Image

You know when you order a few things, but they take a while to deliver and you completely forgot that you ordered them? That’s what nicely happened to me, yesterday evening! So, I was in bed having a chill and catching up on YouTube – when my flatmate knocks my door with 4 parcels for me!

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy – Waterstones – £9.49 – Purchase: HERE

Firstly, I was sent a copy of the newest Bridget Jones book – which I am incredibly excited about! If you know me, then you’d know that I’m a big reader and also have a book blog at http://nuggetstump.blogspot.com. I tweeted about my excitement for this book release and I was luckily contacted by Vintage Books to see if I would like to be involved with the launch of the book. They wanted to use my tweet on London Underground on their TV screens (that go past the escalators), in return I received a copy of the book and an amazing Bridget Jones t-shirt! So I’m really thankful for them, offering me such a nice opportunity!

Bath & Body Works Hand Gel – eBay – £2.99 each (Buy 3, Get 1 Free) – Purchase: HERE

These next items are something that I am slightly obsessed with. In the UK, you can’t get many fragranced hand sanitisers, unless they’re the Body Shop’s strawberry/mango/blabla ones. Whilst I was in Florida in the summer, I visited Bath & Body Works and purchased 5 of these hand gels for $5. They had a really limited selection at the store I went to, but I have been looking for a way to purchase more for ages! For some reason, I didn’t think of looking on ebay, but VOILA – there’s loads on there, and they even stock the Christmas and Halloween scents! I had to purchase these straight away!

They were on a really good offer – £2.99 each, and if you purchase 3, you get a fourth gel for free, from a lucky dip! I decided to get the christmas scents, in: Iced Gingerbread, Cranberry Twinkle and Tis The Season – then I received Pear Berry Cuddles as my free one. These smell seriously gorgeous!

Real Techniques Starter Kit – Amazon – £16.29 – Purchase: HERE

My next purchase was mainly because I have been buying some MAC Eyeshadows recently and I felt that I needed some decent eye brushes, as I didn’t own any. So I have opted for the Real Techniques set, as my Core Essentials Set was definitely value for money – they are such a high quality, and if you visit the US, you can find these for $8 a set! (Ridiculously cheap compared to the UK’s £22.99). I purchased these from Amazon for £16.29 – they come with the Deluxe Crease Brush, Base Shadow Brush, Accent Brush, Pixel-point Eyeliner Brush and an Eyebrow Brush.

The Body Shop: Lipscuff – £8.00 – Purchase: HERE

The Body Shop’s Lip Scrub Stick – I usually use Lush Lip Scrub in Mint Julips, but now that it’s just under half full, I don’t like the feeling of sugar going in-between my nails whilst I’m trying to get some product out of the tub! So, I opted for this stick from The Body Shop. It is a moisturising lip balm, but it also has exfoliating beads within the lip balm – so it’s very 2-in-1! I would show you a photo of the product, but it’s a bit smooshed and manky after I tried it out last night – I simply couldn’t wait any longer to test it!

Image

The Body Shop: Mango Lip Butter – £4.00 – Purchase: HERE

Whilst picking my last item up on The Body Shop’s website – I took advantage of their 35% off deal and thought that I would purchase another lip balm (I have the Coconut one and it tastes and smells amazing!), so I grabbed a Mango lip balm this time! It’s practically the same as my other one, but obviously the scent is different – although I do find that this lip balm is a lot softer than the coconut one. I have to wait for my fingers to warm up on the surface of the coconut lip balm, before it melts. But yeah, I find the packaging adorable too – and you can’t get enough lip balms! I’m forever having 2-3 different balms in each bag that I have, so I don’t have to repack my bag every single day!

See-through, 24 Piece Cosmetic Storage Holder – eBay – £2.81 – Purchase: HERE

The last product I bought was from eBay – I ordered this about 3 weeks ago from Hong Kong, and it only now arrived (which was expected). I thought that my MUJI clear drawers were getting a little overcrowded with lipsticks – so I bought a stand for them, to go on top of the drawers.

Image

I have put a few lipsticks in the holder to show you how certain brands would fit into the stand – it even fits a mascara too! Sadly, it was cracked at the corner when I received it – but for such a small price and travelling all of the way from Hong Kong, I didn’t really care. It is definitely still useable, so yes! I have inserted a photo, just to show you the crack anyway.

What have been your cheeky purchases of the month? Anybody started Christmas shopping yet?!

It happened again.. Cheeky MAC visit!

Image

So, it happened, again. I live across the road from a Debenhams, and it just calls out for bad things to happen to my bank account. Although, the main reason I have been spending in MAC is because I have been saving money that I would’ve spent on little things – for example, I have taken lunch to uni with me for the last two weeks. That has saved me at least £50!

Image

I also ended up having a sneaky trip to Krispy Kreme with Glen (who you can find at lifeofglen.wordpress.com) as they have new Halloween doughnuts and 20% student discount! I would show you what they looked like, but they’re pretty squished from being in my bag!

Image

In MAC, I purchased the 4 piece palette (£6.50) and an eyeshadow in the shade Fig 1 (£10 in pan, £12.50 in a container). One thing I don’t understand about MAC Palettes is that they sell the 2 piece and 4 piece palettes, both for £6.50 each, although they’re different sizes. Oh well!

Image

Here is the 4 piece palette, I am now starting to get into wearing eyeshadows – as in the past, I have only gone for basic nude shades. So I’m now at the point of time in my life, that I need to spice up my make up collection (Seriously, the only eyeshadows I own is the MUA palette (which is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette) and a very old Ruby & Millie 4 piece palette).

These MAC Palettes are a brilliant idea – you can buy them with eyeshadows already in them for a reduced price, but this way you can choose the shades that you really want, depot your old favourite eyeshadows (they don’t have to be from mac – just depot and put a magnet on the bottom of them) and combine your own selection.

I decided to go for the shade ‘Fig 1’, as I have tested ‘Cranberry’ and was greatly surprised that darker tones do suit me! So, I have decided to be a bit more adventurous and thought a purple shade would look perfect for a softer smokey eye (as I am very pale).

Image

Image

Here is Fig 1 in the palette, I would depot ‘Cranberry’ but I quite like the packaging that it is in – so I’m too attached to it, at the moment. I decided to go for a small palette for now, as I’m not planning on buying a huge amount of eyeshadows and this will fit nicely in my handbags – if need be!

That is all that I have for you all today – just thought I would quickly share my cheeky, unexpected purchase with you.

Throw me a comment if you have any recommendations, or blog posts that you would like to see! I will be putting up swatches very soon (when the light is a bit better).

MAC Haul – October 2013

Image

This is the start of something, very bad. I finally bumped up the courage to go into a MAC Store (I actually went to the Debenhams counter – but y’ano..). As some people think, MAC Stores can be pretty intimidating to go into – I feel like I’ll get judged or whatever. So, I went to the Debenhams MAC counter and had a browse at the lipsticks – I ended up making a purchase.

Don’t get me wrong, I find MAC Cosmetics expensive but I feel that I use lipsticks so much, that I would get good use out of these. So that’s the main reason of my purchases! Personally, I wouldn’t pay a large amount for cosmetics that I go through quickly, such as eyeliner, mascara, powder.. Mainly because, IT IS GOING TO RUN OUT, QUICKLY.

Moving on, I ended up purchasing the lipstick Diva. I have heard about this lipstick so many times on Youtube videos and beauty blogs – so I thought I would try it out, as it’s a different shade to the ones I have already got and it’ll fit in with the autumnal/winter seasons!

Then the addiction grew.

I went back to my MAC Store the day after, as our shopping centre had a ‘Student Lock In’ – where they open until 11.30pm and hold really good discounts in certain shops. To my lovely surprise, MAC had a 10% discount – so I couldn’t turn it down. I purchased Plumful.

I was treated to the last lipstick and my newest eyeshadow, which I was so grateful about! I didn’t have a red lipstick as I was always quite scared of which shade to use – but I found the most perfect shade for my skin colour! Viva Glam I!

Image

Shades from left to right: Viva Glam I (a classic, dark red colour), Plumful (Lustre finish – a sheer plum shade, hence the name, but can be built up into a stronger, outstanding colour) and Diva (a gorgeous dark burgundy colour, which comes out a lot lighter than the tube colour!) I must say that Plumful will need more applications during the day, as it’s a Lustre finish.

Image

I then took a cheeky visit over to the eyeshadows, where I was searching for the highly raved about ‘Cranberry’ – which is a gorgeous autumn shade, with a slight frost to it. I’m not very adventurous with eyeshadows, which causes me not to wear them that often, but this shade is so gorgeous on and has made me want to wear eyeshadows on an everyday basis! This eyeshadow is also very long lasting, especially with a base underneath.

I am very impressed with my first few MAC purchases, I’m too excited to save up to get some more. I will be adding some swatches to this post, when the lighting is better this week – so stay posted!

September 2013 Favourites!

Image

Here is a short September Favourites for you – I felt that there wasn’t too many favourites that I was using, to feature!

My first favourite has to be Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze. I feel that these are really pigmented, last all day (even on oily lids) and can act as a base for powder-based eye shadows! I will be writing a blog post on the Colour Tattoo’s soon!

Image

I have been a very early Autumnal person, this year! I have cracked out the candles, burgundy nail polishes, tartan scarf (although, I wear it all year round) and the berry make up shades. I have certainly been loving Spiced Orange from Yankee Candle – especially when I was able to get this in a 25% discount at Clintons! This is such a gorgeous scent that even fills the room within five minutes! It’s a very christmassy/autumnal, warm scent which makes me feel super cosy in the darker nights!

Image

I visited Florida this summer and whilst I was there, I bought a stupid amount of items in Victoria’s Secret. I had this Mango Temptation Body Butter in a 5 for $30 deal – so I had 2 body butters and 3 body mists (I shared some as gifts, for my brother’s girlfriend). I love this body butter though – it can also be used as a hand cream, which isn’t greasy at all! Although, I feel that you have to use quite a lot of product whilst using it on your body, as it doesn’t spread as easily as most body butters! But still – the scent is gorgeous and it isn’t sticky, in the slightest!

Image

These are another product that I purchased this summer, in Florida. I had seen these EOS Lipbalm’s in Boots a few times, for a steep £8 each. I knew that I was going to Florida, so I decided to do my research on how much I can get certain products for, in the US. I found these in Walmart for $2/3 each!! I am addicted to these lipbalms, I wish they sold them more accessibly in the UK and for a smaller price! If I remain correct, I have seen these on Amazon recently – I will post a link when I have found these.

Image

A massive favourite of all time is my Bobble Jug. I use this every single day, and it saves me from buying bottles of water, day in day out! This is basically a very good looking and rather cute, water filter. You simply pour the water in through the filter at the top (take the lid off, obviously), and you’re good to go! No nasties in ma water, thanks! These water filters are really inexpensive – I think I purchased mine for just under £20 from John Lewis, they also come in loads of different colours AND they do adorable drinks bottles with a filter in them too for £8 each – so check them out!

That’s all I have for my September Favourites for now!

Small, Unexpected HAUL – Boots, Waterstones and WHSmith

Image

I am back on the blogging scene! I deleted my last blog, mainly because I thought I couldn’t keep up with a scheduled maintenance. Now, I have decided that I will freely blog, whenever I have the time (or anything to talk about!)

So, I wondered into town today to see my friend, Tom. We luckily had Wagamama for lunch, before scampering into Boots as I needed Lip Liners (that is all I needed).

I came out with a little more, than expected.

I decided to grab a few lip liners as I don’t own any! So I went for Rimmel’s Lasting Finish and Exaggerate liners, in the shades (top to bottom, in previous photo): 024 RED DIVA (a classic red shade), 004 INDIAN PINK (a plum-mauve colour) and then I picked up 063 EASTEND SNOB (a mauve, light pink).

The one thing that really annoys me about these Rimmel lip liners, is that Boots label the Lasting Finish as 1000 Kisses – which is written small, underneath Lasting Finish on the pencil. A little confusing whilst in a rush, but hey ho, nothing major I guess!

A pleasant surprise was that when you spend £10+ on Rimmel at the moment, you get ScandalEyes Lycra Flex mascara worth £7.99, for free.

Afterwards, I went for a browse at the nail varnishes as I am constantly wearing winter burgundies on my nails! So I thought I would get some variety in the ‘winter’ end. I came across the Maybelline Colour Show polishes, I found one colour that I really liked and then it turns out that they were 3 for 2 – so I couldn’t resist leaving another two there!

I bought the three shades (left to right): 265 WINE SHIMMER, 354 BERRY FUSION and 118 URBAN CORAL.

Image

Then I visited WHSmith on the way home, and couldn’t help picking up a magazine as I have heard there’s a lot of amazing freebies this month! I decided to go for Marie Claire, which featured a free L’Occitane hand cream – they do all four scents, but I went for Passionate Jasmine.

I almost forgot my last pick-up/purchase – I ordered this ‘Seven Hundred Penguins’ book last week and had to pick it up today! I was super excited to see that this had finally been delivered to my local store – it is basically a book full of classic and well-designed Penguin Book Covers (yes, I am a Graphic Design student).

Whilst on twitter, I saw one of my followers mention that the Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets had been discontinued but were selling mega cheap on ebay – so I decided to get some, to keep in my bag handy for oily days! I will find the link for you all, if they are still available (there weren’t many left).

IMG_6192

That’s it for my quick, unexpected shopping trip! I am trying to be cautious about my money spending, so I am trying to cut down on drugstore purchases (I now have a motto in my brain, that if I save on the drugstore spends, I can treat myself to a cheeky purchase such as MAC!)

I am planning on getting a few more posts up this evening for you all, so expect to see more of me for the next few hours!

I will be uploading this blog to bloglovin too, as I find it a lot easier to view blogs!
